The Skool of guitar excellence
1 How good you want to be depends on how much practise you put in..more practise=better playing.
2 Better to spend a little time every day than one big practise session once a week. Try 15-20 minutes a day for as many days in the week that you can afford.
3 Spend your practise time wisely. Don’t fall into the habit of playing the same old stuff over and over. Play some basic stuff to warm up, then move on to new exercises.
4 PERSEVERE. Stick with it and you will progress quickly.
Set yourself goals. As with all things you should set yourself goals to achieve, you need determination to get that difficult chord just right. Move towards small goals all the time.
5 Don’t give up! All good guitarists have stickability! They don’t give up. Your fingers will get sore and cramped, your finger tips will also get sore as they press into the strings. Don’t play on if you become very uncomfortable, but understand that it takes a while to build up finger strength and hardened finger tips.
6 Enjoy it! You will be rewarded as you progress and find you are able to play along with your favourite songs.
