The Skool of guitar excellence
Let’s begin with the most popular root 6 bar chord.
This chord is called root 6 because it is based on the 6th string or E string which is the root note for the chord.
When we use the E string as our bar, we use the E chord shape to form our bar chord.
Therefore, the bar chord you are playing is the note (or root note) on the E string that your first finger is on. It’s that simple!
To get a minor bar chord we simply play the E minor chord shape, again keeping our first finger the fret behind.
