RockSkool: Revision Tips
Before progressing to the next stage try to accomplish all of the following
THEORY
know both major and minor root 6 bar chord shapes
know both major and minor root 5 bar chord shapes
know both root 6 and root 5 power chords
be able to identify tabs for all these shapes
memorize the E shape on E string and A shape on A string formula
memorize key notes on E and A strings at fret markers 3, 5, and 7
be able to identify bar chord names from this information and be familiar with the root 6 and 5 bar chords for G, A, B on the 6th string and C, D, E on the 5th string
PRACTICAL
play all major and minor, 6th and 5th bar chords clearly
be able to name 6th and 5th bar chords and their root notes
play and name root 6 and 5 power chords
from the song book, play “Amazing Grace” using bar chords
from the song book, play “Boulevard” using bar chords
follow the practice tips and when you have completed the revision tips and feel comfortable, you are ready to send for your exam.
