The Skool of guitar excellence

RockSkool

Three open chords. E, D and A played as power chords with only three strings struck, this is what makes the sound “right”. Also palm mute to stop the chord ringing too long.

Ahhh..the fiddly bit! For those that care it is built round the E minor pentatonic scale and involves the “pull off” technique to get it right. The bend will take some time to get right because it is so close to the bridge and takes a bit of work...then pull off to the open string and back to E. Secret???....SLOOOOOW PRACTICE!!

After playing the first bit again it ends with a different phrase. Looks a bit complicated at first but slow it down and practise accuracy before trying to get it up to speed

Again go slow, notice the notes all equal value to produce the solid rhythm and keep the palm muting going as well to get the sound just right.

Here is the first section at normal speed. Below I have broken it down into smaller segments and slowed it down so you can see what is going on. You should be able to follow the TAB at the side, if not.....get outta here and back to ROCKSKOOL!
